We at Grand Design Conservatory Systems Ltd have done quite a bit of advertising in Scandinavia. With the Company Directors involvement and the ability of his language skills (He speaks Swedish) we are now exporting between 3 and 5 roofs a week to one of the biggest building companies in Sweden! Although aluminium/PVCu conservatory roofs are a new concept for the swedes (timber conservatories being cheaper) more people are choosing to have our Global roofs. In a time where more and more people have less time to look after their timber products the aluminium/PVCu conservatory is a better option.

Grand Designs New Website

Well the time came to design a website for all you people out there still on dial up. The box gutters which we use are made from the same aluminium box gutter you would find on one of our double hipped edwardian roofs. The difference is, the box gutter is elevated to allow for a pitch variation due to the building being in the way. Turnaround for an elevated box gutter job remains the same at 5 days.
Hope that answers your question Keith!

Polycarbonate thickness

We were asked this question today by one of our customers in Blackpool.

Do you do 35mm polycarbonate? I've heard it's a lot better.

The answer is:- Yes! We have both systems here at Grand Design Conservatory Systems. 25mm and 35mm. The 35mm polycarbonate comes in the same colours as the 25mm, the difference being that the U values on the 35mm are a lot better than the 25mm (..ooh and its 10mm thicker!)

We have found that at the begining of the year 15% of the roofs were being specified with 35mm polycarbonate. The highest pitch on one of our Global roofs is 30 degrees. The lowest pitch is 5 degrees. Between 5 degrees and 30 degrees there is one one wallplate that we use. Global has 2 types of wallplate a 5 - 10 degree and a 10 to 30 degree. We have tried and tested the system and indeed the 10 - 30 degree system will go down to 5 degree.

Now.... If you have a pitch which is lower than 5 degrees you must then use the Global 600 system. Both of these systems can be purchased from us. Simply fax, email or phone us your sizes, colour etc and we can send you off a quote.
